does anybody have experience with Malaysian Trumpet Snails?

local fish store had them at one point but when i went back for them awhile later they didn’t have them anymore and stated they try not to carry them in stock because they’re a pest snail. i’ve had experience with bladder snails with almost ruining my tank with overpopulation but is it that bad with MTS? looking for a good sand cleaner and was kinda set on mts but now i’m a little worried. risk it? alternatives? i’ve heard rabbit snails but can’t really seem to make a decision
