If an npc's name turns red but you don't kill them, are they permanently upset with you, or can you salvage it somehow

So I started recently and while doing stuff on the weeping isles I found selene, who I here has a questline further on. However I accidentally hit her a couple times fighting enemies that snuck up on me to the point where her name is red. Is there a way to restore her to a talkable state and how do I free her
