Why do so many people like hate Todd

For me, Todd was always the goat; he made a lot out of very little. I always rooted for Todd, but now they won't give him a new contract. Why is he so hated? To me, he always made very good decisions. I loved how chaotic it was at Todds mine But they always worked hard, even when everything went wrong they found a way. I'm from Germany and haven't seen the new season of Todd; has he changed? I'm curious to hear your opinions, this is my first post here, and does anyone know where I can illegally watch all seasons, preferably in German or at least with German subtitles?
