How do I know if he wants to try again?

My boyfriend broke up with me 5 months ago. We had a perfect relationship but one messy day where everything fell apart. It was both of our faults and alcohol was involved.

He hasn’t really reached out since the breakup. I feel like pride has gotten in the way for both of us. But I’ve reached out to collect items and then an accidental phone call where I hung up immediately. He has been straightforward up until our last conversation where he kept texting my name which is long and takes time to spell. He was asking about my family and even offered to let me borrow his gun. I even stopped the conversation because I didn’t know how to reply and he followed up with how is the family doing. He sent the last message and I fell asleep. I responded at 5:30 AM and he didn’t get back to me until 4:00 the next day so I just left it alone.

I feel like there’s a lot of unresolved feelings but he hasn’t been the one to reach out and say much. I know he feels like everything was my fault and I feel like it’s his, but I have such unconditional love for him that I think it could be fixed. I just have been giving him space because I don’t know if he wants the same. Please help! Do I ask to borrow his gun as a way to see him?
