Question on Relics, Weapons

Hello! Couple of questions on artifacts.

1. Specifically Magellan's Globe type effects. Card just says "Opposite edges of the realm are connected", does the effect remain active even if no one is carrying the relic?

2. How many weapons can a unit carry? And do multiple artifacts stack effects? (eg. 3x Flaming Swords = +3 power?)
