First yeast infection 🥲
I had what I think was a really bad yeast infection starting around Christmas up until this past Monday — so almost 2 weeks of itching and inflammation. For most of that time I didn’t have much discharge, but it started showing up more around the 2-week mark. I had both internal and external itching.
I finally went to a women’s clinic and they prescribed: Oral fluconazole, 3-day terconazole (intravaginal), and a 7-day ketoconazole cream for the labia since the yeast seemed to spread externally too.
I’ve taken the oral fluconazole and finished the 3-day vaginal treatment. The external itching has stopped, but I still have a lingering internal itch inside my vagina.
It’s only day 5 since starting treatment… Is this normal? Has anyone else had internal itching stick around even after finishing treatment? I’m assuming it could just be irritation or old yeast sloughing off, but I’m also nervous that it could still be active yeast that hasn’t fully cleared yet.
