The dumbest thing I ever started at Scott Library actually worked out
You know that thing where you're supposed to be studying but you end up doing literally anything else? One night I was avoiding an assignment and started messing around with some code for a script I thought would be useful for myself. Just a dumb little tool.
Kept working on it here and there. Showed it to a few people. They wanted to use it too. So I cleaned it up and put it online thinking maybe five people would sign up.
Fast forward and now it's somehow turned into an actual thing with real recurring revenue. People pay for it monthly. I still can't really believe it.
The whole experience taught me that the "right time" to start something doesn't exist. I wasn't ready. I didn't have a plan. I just started because I was procrastinating and thought it would be fun. Turns out that's enough sometimes.
Anyway not trying to hard sell anything, but if you're curious it's called Rytar - it's an SEO tool for bloggers and small marketing teams. Genuinely just wanted to share because between the commute and everything else York throws at us, it's easy to forget you can actually build stuff on the side. Anyone else here working on projects?
