Are my MIL & SIL actually trying to have a better relationship with me or are they just trying because they want to be a part of the kids lives?…
My husband and I have gone no contact with my MIL & SIL a few times, but I always ended up speaking to them again weather that was because I told them I was pregnant or wanting to try and resolve the issue by offering us to all go to therapy. Since the first time we cut them off when we had just moved to Arizona, my husband had already been completely done with them. He never had a close relationship with them so it was easy for him to go no contact. he has always supported me and stood up for me and took me out of a nightmare situation when we were living with them hence why they moved to Arizona. but when we found out I was pregnant with my first I felt bad that my mother-in-law and sister-in-law didn’t know so I told them and my MIL was happy for us she mentioned “life is too short that we need to move past these things and allow her to be apart of our good news”…there was no sorry at that point. I told my SIL and she was happy but she actually did apologize saying that she wanted to better our relationship and she was gonna keep being sorry and she feels bad and kept apologizing. I felt she was being genuine and I accepted it. Whenever I brought up therapy for all 4 of us my MIL would say yes of course but it would never happen. We had cut her off the second time around the time I was pregnant with my second because anytime we went to her with an issue. She would say that we were very sensitive and that her son has changed because of me and he doesn’t talk to her anymore and things are different and a whole bunch of hurtful things. Meanwhile, my husband told her countless times what she did wrong and how we just want an apology and we want things to get better by going to therapy but she still never did that once. We had cut her off for the second time when I was pregnant with my second, but when I was almost due I let her back in saying we really need therapy because for all this to get better she needs to try and she would say yes and that we seem to carry to much pain and it’s not healthy for us….it never happened again, my kids are now 1 & 2. I’ve been carrying this weight of feeling like I am the only one keeping the relationship alive because without me, she wouldn’t be a grandma And my sister-in-law wouldn’t be a aunt. While my sister and law have had a better relationship I can’t help but to feel like it’s not 100% genuine while I give her advice when she needs it and I’m hyping her up she does the same but things don’t seem genuine. My husband has only been civil with them because Im still taking to them, he ignores his moms text and only speaks to them when we visit but very bluntly, he hasn’t seen them the same because of the way they treated me and he has told me countless times to stop contact with them, but I don’t know why my heart wants to keep trusting them or believing we can all heal together. Honestly right now things are fine but a lot bothers me still and haunts me still that I’m going to therapy for it. I feel like some days I just wanna cut them off without a reason or word but I would feel bad because it’s like everything was going fine and randomly I’m done? I’ve been done I just want to protect my kids from family who cant accept responsibility.
