My (biased) opinions on which craftable weapons are still worth the effort

Discussion

List is ordered by weapon type, not by viability. Definitely longer than it needs to be, but I'm a bit of a hoarder. Most of the weapons in this list are Best in Slot, which means that they're either genuinely phenomenal weapons, the only option, or the bar was low. The rest are either part of my regular arsenal or have niche use cases worth highlighting.

Reckless Oracle

  • Uncontested king of Void ARs, with Destabilizing Rounds in the third column and a great origin trait for endgame content

Abyss Defiant

  • Kept afloat in PvE with its strong perk pool and potent origin trait, despite being a weaker frame
  • Very much an outlier in the Crucible; would get nerfed if more people used it

No Hesitation

  • One of three Support Frame ARs in Destiny 2
    • Adamantite - Randomly sold by Xur
    • Cusp Sempiternal - Drops from 2 encounters in EPIC Desert Perpetual, including the final boss
    • No Hesitation - Found from Pale Heart Patrols & Craftable
  • No Hesitation is the only Support Frame AR that players can obtain with relative ease

Accrued Redemption

  • Similar perks to Mercury-A, which is its main competitor, but Accrued Redemption has a stronger origin trait and is still obtainable

Non-Denouement

  • Voltshot Bow
  • Likely to be the best Arc Bow for a long time, considering that Bungie chose to give the new Arc Bow, King Orfeo, Jolting Feedback instead of Voltshot

Raconteur

  • Hate it personally, but it's 1 of 2 Legendary Stasis Bows

Fatebringer

  • Strong Kinetic 140
  • Base version is a sidegrade to Midnight Coup with Kinetic Tremors in the third column and newer perks like Elemental Honing
  • Adept version exceeds Midnight Coup with Adept mods and stat boosts
  • I'd honestly recommend enhancing the Adept, Templar's challenge is effortless with a good team

Posterity/Sightline Survey

  • Both are strong Arc 180's, but in different ways
  • Posterity has very potent rolls for PvE, particularly Voltshot Frenzy
  • Sightline Survey has more potential for PvP, as it can be perfectly crafted to reach some Funny TTK breakpoints with a dedicated Weapons build

Zaouli's Bane

  • Shockingly resilient to powercreep thanks to its strong stats and great perks
  • Little to say; Explosive Payload dominates the third column and Incandescent is still the best perk in the fourth column

Word of Crota

  • Destabilizing Rounds, Dragonfly and Cursed Thrall will clear rooms
  • Has Funny potential in the Crucible like Sightline Survey thanks to its higher stats and access to Adept mods, but it's harder to obtain

Sacred Provenance/Chattering Bone/Smite of Merain

  • All of the top Kinetic Pulse Rifles are strong, and it really comes down to preference
    • Sacred Provenance has a good frame, strong Kinetic perks and the best origin trait of the three, but doesn't roll damage perks in the third column
    • Chattering Bone gets Kill Clip in the third column, giving it high damage potential with a slow start
    • Smite of Merain is dated, but it's an extremely flexible option with a comfortable frame and good visuals
    • Blast Furnace is also worth mentioning, with Kinetic Tremors in the third column and a strong perk pool, but it can't be crafted

Nullify

  • Not as flexible as Stars in Shadow, but it has a much better frame for PvE
  • Heal Clip and Incandescent is the most popular roll, but the third column also gets Firefly and the fourth gets Chaos Reshaped

BxR-55 Battler

  • Unique frame; performs very well in PvE and PvP
  • Only gun to roll Blunt Execution Rounds, which can be squeezed into a 1-2 Punch damage rotation

Fang of Ir Yut

  • We really don't have a lot of options for Strand Scout Rifles
  • PvE performance is fine, heavily carried by Cursed Thrall but undeniably functional
  • Funny in the Crucible because of Enhanced Precision Instrument, which can noticeably shift its TTK

Imminence

  • Highly competitive SMG in PvE, keeps up with Qua Nilus and Immortal thanks to its strong stat package and the range boost provided by its origin trait
  • Chaos Reshaped is the top perk in the fourth column, but Imminence is also one of the few Strand primaries to roll Firefly

The Call

  • Only Strand Rocket Sidearm

Zealot's Reward

  • Still dominant in the Crucible despite the nerfs
  • Performance in PvE is fine but there are better options

Deliverance

  • We've gotten a LOT of Stasis Fusion Rifles this year, but not only is Deliverance the only Stasis Precision Frame, but the only Precision Frame Fusion in the Kinetic slot
  • Strong performance in PvE with potent perks like Demolitionist and Chill Clip
  • Absolute sleeper in the Crucible; not the best Precision Frame Fusion but it's the only one that can be used with Energy slot Primaries

Forthcoming Deviance

  • Similar case to Non-Denouement, where Bungie introduced a direct competitor (The Heron) that's just a worse weapon
  • Chaos Reshaped is the best choice in the fourth column, and the healing is very noticeable
  • Third column is flexible

Nezarec's Whisper

  • Terrible perks with an insane origin trait that carries the entire weapon
    • Kills while surrounded by 3 or more enemies restore ~25% of your hp
  • Vital to several Melee builds, particularly for Titans who don't want to spec into healing

Lubrae's Ruin

  • There are only two Glaives that can roll Graverobber and Swashbuckler, and the other one drops from Gambit
  • Greasy Luck is the better Glaive for Solar synergy, but that version came from Rite of the Nine and can no longer be obtained

Prodigal Return

  • Powercrept by Theodolite in PvE
  • Funny in the Crucible; it's one of three Lightweight GL's with Disruption Break and the only craftable option
  • Pairs well with Kinetics like Rat King and Crimson

Lost Signal

  • Only evergreen Area Denial GL in the Kinetic slot, and a great option for tick damage
  • You'd see it a lot more often if the DPS meta wasn't dominated by Mint Retrograde

Found Verdict/Prophet of Doom

  • Two Arc Shotguns from Raids that perform very well
  • Both perform well in PvE
  • Prophet has the better frame for PvP, and can be considered a direct upgrade over Matador 64
    • MIDA Macro-Tool is equivalent in the Crucible but is currently unobtainable

Someday

  • Great in the Crucible, and can be perfectly rolled thanks to crafting
  • Deadlock is the better choice on paper, but it's a legacy Competitive weapon that can only be obtained from Xur
    • You might as well treat Deadlock like it doesn't exist; it would take a miracle for Xur to sell a roll that's better than a 5/5 Someday

Until it's Return/Swordbreaker

  • Two very good Strand shotguns
    • Until it's Return can roll Overflow and Cascade Point, which lets you dump most of your ammo in 2-3 seconds
    • Swordbreaker has better perks for general use, and fits well into Melee builds thanks to 1-2 Punch and Cursed Thrall

Heritage

  • The only Kinetic Slug worth chasing
  • Reconstruction in the third column keeps Heritage perpetually topped off
  • Recombination lets Heritage nuke Champions

IKELOS_SG_v1.0.3

  • Very few options for Solar Shotguns, but IKELOS is a strong and consistent choice
  • Good origin trait for PvE, and can be built for either a melee build or general use

Praedyth's Revenge/The Supremacy

  • Very similar Kinetic Sniper Rifles that are both fantastic options for damage rotations
    • Praedyth's Revenge's third column can roll either Kinetic Tremors for tick damage or Fourth Times the Charm for extra ammo, and its fourth column has strong damage perks like Bait & Switch and Elemental Honing
    • The Supremacy can combine Rewind Rounds with Fourth Times the Charm or Kinetic Tremors to dump its entire ammo reserves without ever needing to reload
    • Something Something, the new Kinetic Sniper, is a viable alternative with a worse frame for players that don't want to Raid

Critical Anomaly

  • One of the reasons why Chill Clip was nerfed
  • Worse DPS than Conspiracy Honed, the new Stasis Sniper Rifle, but Critical Anomaly is the more flexible of the two
    • With Anti-Barrier or Unstoppable Sniper Rifles, Critical Anomaly can stun 2 different Champions

Beloved

  • Still one of the better Sniper Rifles for the Crucible, mainly because crafting lets you tune it to your preferences and playstyle

Acasia's Dejection/Retraced Path

  • Both Solar Trace Rifles are craftable, and both of them are fine
    • Both roll Incandescent in the fourth column
    • Acasia has a more flexible perk pool, with strong perks in both columns
    • Retraced Path gets Shoot to Loot, which is really nice to have on a perfectly accurate laser beam

Chronophage

  • The best (of two) Void Trace Rifles, with strong Void synergy and good general perks like Shoot to Loot and Target Lock

Cataclysmic

  • Fourth Times the Charm and Bait & Switch, tried and true
  • Still of the highest total damage heavies in Destiny 2, but its DPS is limited by its frame
  • When LFRs rotate back into the meta, you'll want to have Cataclysmic in your arsenal

Song of Ir Yut

  • Equally good perks to Bitter End with a good origin trait and an ACTUAL AMMO ECONOMY
  • Poor Arc synergy but fantastic options for general use like Reconstruction and Target Lock

Corrective Measure/Commemoration

  • The best Void LMG is a tossup between Corrective Measure, Commemoration and Hammerhead
    • Commemoration has more standard rolls and is less exciting, but is the most reliable thanks to Reconstruction
    • Corrective Measure has the most potent Void synergy and the best frame (Aggressive)
    • Hammerhead has the highest damage potential and a strong origin trait, but isn't craftable

Retrofit Escapade

  • There's a lot of good Void LMGs goddamn
  • Noting Retrofit separately from the others because it has a very different niche: boss damage
  • With Fourth Times the Charm, Target Lock, and a consistent source of Volatile Rounds, it is one of the best strongest weapons in Destiny 2
  • Very niche and requires setup and buildcrafting, but worth having available in case the meta shifts

Hezen Vengeance

  • It set the new standard for Rocket Launchers
  • Still the king thanks to its origin trait, which is ABSURD to have on a rocket launcher

Summum Bonum

  • Enhanced Tireless Blade and Chain Reaction can fully refund the ammo spent on each heavy swing
  • Performs terribly with a fireteam and is unusable in a Raid, but it's critical to solo activities

The Other Half

  • Powercrept when it comes to movement, but still a flex piece
  • Only needs one template to craft, but you need to actually find one first
