Perianal Crohns - Can it get better?

Hello all!

I know that I am not worse case scenario, but I still want to share my story and maybe have some answers.

I am M26 from Finland and I was diagnosed with Perianal fistulasing crohns in 2018.

I developed abscess in 2019 and it was drained on ER. Got some antibiotics and it got healed.

Next two years I went through 1 pill medicine (can’t remember the name) and it gave me pancreatic inflammation and sent me to hospital for 16 days. Then I hopped on methotrexate. After every injection I felt like I was having hangover and slept 16h. And it really didn’t help.

Then came biologicics. First infliximab. My liver didn’t like that. Back to steroids. Then Humira. Body got used to that. And Calro was +1300 “at the best”.

2023 I started Ustekinumabi/Stelara.

And that helped. No symptoms, maybe really rare abdominal pain but that all. Crp and calpro on normal level first time since 2018.

  1. Just graduated, got my dream job like a miracle. One month in and abscess. Perkele. In different place. Ok, to the ER and they popped it. Told that they couldn’t see fistula. After time there definitely was one. Not complex and low according to DR.

Seton surgery and around 7 months with that.

One month ago I was under LIFT surgery. Happy as you could imagine to get rid of string that has been between my cheeks for the past 7 months.

Around one week after surgery I sterted to feel pressure buildup. Thought it could be because of actual surgery. It turned out to be abscess again and it came on the same point I had it in 2019.

It bursted through old fistula opening and holy shit the amount of blood.

Well to the ER, MRI and only got antibiotics. It happened 3 weeks ago and I still have some leakage. I guess time shows will it heal or not.

Sorry for the long text, so now I will ask the question.

Do you have experienced anything similar like that? How did your fistula heal or it did not? How it was healed and how much it did time?

AND how do you hold yourself together?

I am really depressed about this sickness. I came from a really poor family and really terrible conditions overall.

Now I finally have good status at life. Best workplace, really good income, parter, apartment etc.

But this fucking sickness tries to destroy that all every day. I had to quit from cycling, ice hockey, lifting weights. My relationship suffers because I have terrible feeling all the time and no libido because of that.

I can’t plan my life. Feels like every single time when I got an idea and get excited about new hobby or something, this disease finds its way to say no.

Really sucks. Especially to think about that fact about my background and childhood versus the status now. I would be able to give much more of me to this world, but no.

There was excessive info, but I had to say it somewhere. Any tips are welcome!

All of you, STAY STRONG ❤️
