Hi. Nurse with ADHD here. I got problems with ADHD and I need help.
Hi Nurse with ADHD here. I got problems with my ADHD, med error included. I was not able to read the whole instructions in giving medicine (parameters) before I gave it because of distractions, among other things.
I work night shift and between the hours of 5am to 7am is the most hectic hours. This is where I commit most of my mistakes. I am suffering from insomnia because of chronic night shift. Also, the unit that I work right now is not adhd/neuro-inclusive.
So here is what I am going to do/use:
- Take Vyvanse 30mg 2 hrs prior to my shift
- Take silicone wristbands all the time (to write distractions to)
- Set smart watch to alarm every hour (for time-blindness
- Put in the nursing report some checkboxes written side by side the time and activity of nursing tasks required within that hour
- Small notebook + ballpen in my chest pocket (to write down distractions)
- Try to sleep 7-8 hrs before night shift
- Look for day/shift availabilities as soon as possible (to manage insomnia).
- Put post-its in my pen container.
Is this enough to prevent commiting mistakes due to ADHD?
