What is the status of the ice caves?
I will be in Iceland next week and I really want to do a glacier hike + ice caves tour next week, but the localguide website says:
"Due to current glacier conditions and operational considerations, the Ice Cave Discovery Tour is temporarily unavailable for December and January. Safety and quality are our top priorities, and at this time we cannot operate the full Discovery experience to our usual standards. We continue to offer our Ice Cave Tour, featuring a guided glacier walk and a visit to one or more natural blue ice formations (approx. 3 hours)."
But I also read that the half-day tours aren't as good, and that the best caves are further out, especially this year. But localguide seems to be conflicting.
I'm struggling to find any good recent photos of the caves. Has anyone been recently and are there any tours you recommend?
