Lease and Move-In day was supposed to be today, I wasn’t given a key.

First time posting here, if this belongs somewhere else let me know.

Context: In the USA, this is only my second time moving in an apartment, my first time all myself.

As of today, I was supposed to move-in to a new apartment. I was approved for this unit weeks ago, about a week before Christmas, and after my approval my move-in date was solidified to today.

About a week ago, I emailed the leasing agent I’ve been in contact with about my move-in date, if there was anything I needed to do or be aware of. That’s when I was told they’re “still waiting on compliance.”

Well it’s my day of move-in, and we are still waiting for compliance. I was getting such little information I went in person to my leasing office today, and found out who is in charge of compliance, but I’m still being told to wait. I even contacted these compliance people myself, and they basically told me to bug off, and that they don’t handle that.

Here I am, on the day I’m supposed to be moving, with no lease or keys. I’m now entirely screwed, luckily I have a place to stay while I figure this all out, but the floor to ceiling boxes and general stress of this is beyond overwhelming.

Any advice? No one is contacting me, with a weekend coming up it’s likely I’m stuck in this unfair and uncomfortable situation until Monday, and even then, I’m not sure compliance will have their shit together by then. Anything is appreciated, I am also attempting to take this up with my local representatives, as I feel what is happening to me is unjust.
