Why did they organize MAT136 in such a confusing way

Rant

In Fall MAT135's organization was clear and simple (Non-Life sci). Quizzes on Quercus, midterm, final, and that's it. TUTs are optional exercises. This is literally the best way to organize an introductory math course, cuz a lot of students do just fine studying at their own pace, while extra help from the TUT is still available for those who need it.

Now, MAT136, firstly, I have no idea what all these "adaptive practice", "reflection", "tut activities", and "badges" are and how much they weigh in the participation mark cuz the syllabus lowk doesn't explain anything, yet there's not even a brief housekeeping during the first lecture. Like, dude, it's elementary calculus, it's not that deep. Just let me get it over with.
