Rough idle and check engine lights after throttle body cleaning
I recently had an issue with my car(2008 Volvo S60 2.5T FWD) having reduced engine performance, unable to go more than 15-20mph. I ran the code, getting P2111, so I took it to the shop and they cleaned out the throttle body. I had this same issue about 3 years ago, the same guy cleaned it out and the car ran good as new. This time after picking up the car, I noticed it was idling rough, rpm jumping around 1500-2000, and two engine codes, P0507 and P1167. I looked them up, P0507 is idle rpm is higher than normal, okay that is definitely true. P1167 has to do with Air/Fuel ratio sensor, sounds related but I’m not going to act like I understand that really. After doing some research I found it can be normal to have a rough idle after the throttle body is cleaned, and it will usually go away after some driving, and its possible to reset the computer by disconnecting the battery. So I disconnect the battery for about an hour, reconnect it, and drive it around the block a few times. After parking, the idle rpm is still jumping around, and the same codes pop up again. Should I keep driving it a while and hope the issues resolve with regular driving? Is there anything else I can do about this other than taking it back to the shop? Am I taking a big risk to try and continue driving my car to and from work everyday? I rely heavily on my car for getting to work 20 miles away. Any help or insight it greatly appreciated. To be clear someone picked the car up from the shop for me since I was at work or I would have asked the mechanic about these issues, or maybe they weren’t present at the time.
