Replacing old garage fluorescent fixture with an outlet?
Hi! Am needing some wisdom here. The fluorescent fixture in my garage is on its last legs. I am hoping to buy LED lights to replace the fluorescent ones. The LED lights are plugged in. My thought is to:
- Remove the old fluorescent fixture
- Turn the wiring that supplied power to the fluorescent fixture into an outlet
- Plug the new lights in to the outlet so I can control it via switch vs the little pull cord
My question is: Is there anyway to install the outlet into the workbox used to house the lighting wiring? Do I need to drywall and cut a new hold for an electrical box specific to the outlet? Am trying to reuse as much as I can without leaving an unsightly hole in the garage ceiling. Thanks in advance!
