Should I break contact with my fwb?
Hi everyone,
Very nervous to ask this, but I (23F) want some input from different people before making a final decision.
A year ago I broke up with my boyfriend of 4,5 years (we just grew apart, no big drama). During and before the relationship I have been friends with a guy. He's always been super nice to me and a good friend, but a couple of months after breaking up with my ex he admitted he was in love with me. I was very surprised but also flattered and eventually, after seeing eachother a couple of times again, I caught feelings for him. Soon, we starting having sex too. He told me he'd want to date me but would also be okay with being just friends or fwb, as long as I was comfortable (bc I was still getting over the break-up a bit).
But: in september I moved to Belgium (which is a 2 hour trainride from where my friend lives) for a year for my studies. He was excited for me, and even helped me looking for a nice studio. Until I asked him, months later, how he felt about starting dating. He told me he didn't want to do long distance so he would want to maybe date after my year in Belgium.
That already made me feel a bit weird (I personally wouldn't want to risk that someone I love fell in love with someone else). But as time went on, I started noticing more strange things. For instance: he never wants to meet up anywhere in public or do something fun together, he only wants to meet up in places where sex is possible. And over text he only seems super invested in the conversation when it's about anything sexual.
And another thing I dislike: I'm bisexual and everytime I meet a girl he keeps on hinting that I should ask the girl out (even though I had already pointed out it made me feel uncomfortable and hurt).
I feel used, very hurt and confused by this all. I don't really understand why he changed. My friends tell me I should break off all contact but that is very hard for me because I have known him for almost 10 years now.
So I would really appreciate any input about what to do, so I can make a final descision because it's really messing with my mental health. Thank you all in advance!
