Very frustrated 46yo

NSFWI Have Lipedema [Experiences/Photos]

Im 5/1, 46yo and 125 pounds. Seems pretty good right?

I have recently discovered lipedema and OMG its blown my world apart. I have it, my mother and sisters have it. what KILLLLLLSSS me is that I spent 25k in Jan of 2025 for a tummy tuck and breast lift, and I look exactly the same. While yes, you can see a difference I guess, but you certainly in way can see a 25k difference. I have been so depressed. These stupid tummy tuck groups with their before and afters just depress me. It was so much money. And if I had known I had this literally a year ago, I would have made different decisions. I had diastasis recti after the birth of my twins. And I've lived with it for 15y, but last year I was all "I done with this and fixing my body and going to have the best body of my life. And it was such a huge surgery and a huge recovery and I just dont see much of a difference AT ALL.

Welp. I can live with it, sure. But most days it makes me want to cry. So, here I am. And I am happy to have found this group. It's even more depressing knowing that I have this lipedema and there isn't really a thing I can do about it except work on the systems. I regularly use compression leggings, we have a leg compression machine I use a couple of times a week. I work out regularly. Eat well.

This is just NOT the body of a 5'1 125lb person. I dont know where to go from here. I feel like there is no hope. Yes, I can live with this, but I really don't want to. And no - my husband would die if I approached him with a discussion or more surgery. I know I can live with this and people are in much more dire situations, I think I just thought that I was already small, and doing this surgery would just change my life. (also, I usually track around 30% Body Fat which is really high on my frame)
