I built a WordPress plugin that uses free and lightning-fast AI models to auto-rename your uploaded images and `alt=""` tags based on what they actually show. Now I'm looking for alpha testers

Hi,

Last night, I finished v1.0.0-alpha of a plugin I've made for WordPress, and I'm now looking for users to test it, provide feedback, and report bugs via DM before I submit it to the WordPress.org plugin repository.

The plugin is very simple: When you upload one or more image files anywhere on your WordPress site, it uses Llama 4 Maverick or Scout (your choice) to view the image, describe it with keywords, and rename the filename based on those keywords.

Example

I downloaded a random image from unsplash.com, which is named photo-1761839257513-a921710a4291.jpg. My plugin sends it to a lightning-fast LLM, views the content of the image, and gives the file a descriptive name before it's saved in your media library. Using this example, the output was uploaded as seniors-enjoying-fresh-flowers-together.jpg.

More Features

  • Use the descriptive filename and automatically save it as alt="" attribute in a more readable way (Seniors enjoying fresh flowers together).
  • You can select either Llama 4 Maverick 17B (more accurate) or Llama 4 Scout 17B (faster) to describe your image.
  • By default, the renaming follows keywords. The example above is set to 5 keywords, but you can select between 1 and 10.
  • All you need is an API key, which is free and allows up to five concurrent image uploads, but is capped at 20 MB (per file or per bulk upload). Tokens are being cached. The LLM provider has a "Developer Plan," which bills users a reasonable price for tokens at the end of the month.
  • Select what image formats the renaming applies to.
  • Once entered, your API key is automatically encrypted with the Defuse Crypto library for PHP and never stored in cleartext anywhere.
  • Customize the prompt to fine-tune how the images will be named (sarcastically? flowery?).
  • Blends into WordPress' native UI so that it almost looks like a WordPress feature itself.

This is the current state of the plugin, and I plan to add compatibility with other LLM providers soon.

So, I'm looking for WordPress users who want to try it out and provide constructive feedback. If you're such a person, please send me a DM.

I'm not mentioning names or providers to hide anything; rather, it's because this is the initial working alpha version, and I'm in contact with the provider in question, who might support this open-source project. I also want to release it only when it's fully functional and as bug-free as possible.

Again, for the skeptics among you: You can register and use an API key for free within 2 minutes; skimming API keys with this would be pointless. I take privacy seriously.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Here is a redacted screenshot of the settings page:
