What happens if I don't pay the Rundfunkbeitrag?

So basically I moved to Germany a few months ago to experience life abroad for the first time. I didn't end up liking it there, as work was hard to find for me, and decided to move back after 3 months of being registered there. Right before moving back I got the letter about the rundfunkbeitrag.

I decided to just ignore it as the letter came a week before I moved back and I was quite busy packing and it was right after I had taken care of my abmeldung.

Eventually I forgot about it and now I'm back in my home country and left wondering what happens. I don't even know if letters are still being sent to my old apartment there and I have no intention of ever going back to Germany.

Will anything happen if I don't complete my payments? Specifically if I don't move back? Anyone ever had experiences with this?
