I'm hating the Lark App

I'm hating the Lark app. I've been using it all of 5 days and I am so tempted to just drop it.

I had lost 65 lbs in 2024, but watching my mother die in 2025 broke me. I gained back that 65lbs plus 6 more for good measure.

I've been doing a lot of work with my therapist and social worker, and I've been reading some books on grief. I decided it was time to try to take control of my weight again. Sunday I downloaded the Lark app and went grocery shopping for some veggies. I also found a video on YouTube for a 5 minute workout.

I was pretty proud that I was working out for 5 minutes a day. I'm huffing and puffing at the end of 5 minutes, but it's better than the nothing from before. After two days of tracking Lark started pestering me about working out more multiple times a day. It feels so discouraging because 5 minutes is the increased activity. Eventually I will do more, but I'm just getting started.

Previously I would eat 4 double cheese burgers and a large fry for lunch. That's 2240 calories and 40g saturated fat. This week for lunch I've been eating 1/2 bag of salad, 2oz smoked salmon, 3 peices of rye bread, and 1 oz brie. That's 665 calories and 10g saturated fat. Way way way better than what I was eating. But Lark will not shut the heck up about saturated fat. I'm aware that eventually I should eat even healthier, but I think a 75% decrease in saturated fat is a good start.

Or I have a box of no sugar added ice cream bars for when I need a treat. It's only 3 grams of sugar, but Lark yells at me for eating too much sugar when I have one.

I know my current diet isn't perfect, but it's loads better than it was and I've lost 5lbs in 5 days so I'm moving in the right direction. It feels like Lark expects perfection from day 1 and I don't like it. I'm debating on dropping the Lark app and finding something different.
