Trying to join in on the fun

I live in a tourist town in FL and would love to get into metal detecting. I don’t know anything about metal detectors so I figured where else would be better to ask than right here in the subreddit that got me interested in the hobby to begin with.

I need recommendations on a good metal detector for sand as I intend to be on the beach with it most of the time. Maybe one that can handle some water if I’m in the shallow wake?

Please feel free to suggest every price range tho I will likely lean for something cost effective as my first detector.

Can’t wait to grow my collection of beer can tabs and assorted junk!
