Getting over this flu

I have been feeling almost totally normal from this flu for about a week now but if I do too much I feel out of breath. Still have an occasional annoying now mostly dry cough. I have mild asthma and have an alvesco inhaler and rescue but don’t take either on a regular basis. They did an xray on my lungs when I was initially sick and no pneumonia but sent me home with a nebulizer and prednisone, which I never took because I hear it makes you feel awful. Has anyone else had this issue a week out and should I maybe just take the alvesco daily until this clears?
