Landlord negligence small claims court

I live in a rented property in England. In the bedroom there is a built into the wall wardrobe and at the top is a large heavy panel of wood , the landlord just placed it into place and didn’t attempt to screw or or glue it or anything. I had no idea , I shut the wardrobe door and it came down on my head and I’ve been in hospital with concussion, ct scan for possible fracture and three large two inch cuts on my head . I texted landlord at told them what happened just the facts and that I was in hospital and they replied saying “ oh no, feel better soon, just throw the wood away” could I take them to court over this? Surely that’s negligence? Why wouldn’t they screw or hammer the wood in ?
