parking tips for the carrie zazz band at daryl's house (pawling ny 01/14)

hey everyone, figured i'd share some parking advice for the carrie zazz band show on wednesday, 01/14. daryl's house is an awesome intimate venue, but honestly the parking situation can get a little tricky, especially for an evening show right off route 22 where traffic can be a small headache trying to get in.

the absolute easiest way to skip all that typical snarl and hassle is by using an app called Prked. it lets you rent a private driveway or a garage spot from a neighbor right next to the club. it's usually way cheaper than the official lots if they're charging, and you get to skip all the traffic chaos and the shuttle bus line at the end. plus, it's just a super short walk right to the front door, which is great when it's cold in january.

if you want to use the venue, daryl's house has its small main lot right out front. the problem is that it fills up really fast. the show starts at 7:00 pm, so if you're set on a main lot spot, you need to get there early, well before the doors open. sometimes you can buy a prepaid parking pass online, like on seatgeek, which is the only way to guarantee a spot and avoid the day-of stress, so definitely check for that option when you buy your tickets.

once the main lot is full, they direct everyone to an off-site overflow lot up the road, historically at the hannaford supermarket. then you have to take a free shuttle bus back to the club. the shuttle works, but it adds a chunk of time to your night, especially when you're trying to leave with everyone else.

for an official alternative, the metro-north train station lot (pawling station) is a legal option. it's not a short walk - about a mile - but it's a safer bet than risking a ticket or tow if the venue lots are full. since the show is a wednesday evening, be sure to check for any current weekday restrictions at the station, though it's still generally safer than trying street parking.

now for the big warning: absolutely avoid all local street parking in the town of pawling. the town's winter snow emergency rules are in effect from november 15 through april 15. parking on a public street is prohibited between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. if there's any chance of interfering with plowing, and your car will likely be there all night, so the risk of a ticket or tow is huge. also, town-owned parking lots like the one at town hall are for official business only and trying to sneak a spot there can get you a $50 fine.

so my advice is to use Prked for pure convenience, buy a prepaid venue pass, or arrive really early for the main lot. otherwise, plan on the overflow shuttle or the long walk from the metro-north lot. hope this helps and enjoy the show!
