Which Modern Final Fantasy is Great for Beginners?

So about a year ago I played the very first Final Fantasy and some people were saying that it is very hard to get into the older titles and not as good as some of the newer ones, my question for you guys is what is a good Final Fantasy good that has modern mechanics, and I suppose on of the newer titles since I was told those ones are better? I would not know hence why I am asking all you lovely people were is a good beginning point for a newcomer like me!? :) Thank you in advance.
