Will leaving the waste gate actuator inactive cause any mechanical damage?

2016 Jetta tsi, ~140,000. The rod connecting the hinge on the waste gate actuator has fallen out. I know it’s a potential easy fix but I don’t have all the correct tools and taking it to a shop will be last resort. As for my question, I’m planning on getting a new car in roughly 2 years. If I just leave the thing disconnected and ride it out in low power mode for a couple years is there any potential for mechanical damage elsewhere in the engine/drivetrain?
