Multiclass confusion

I want to do a Swashbuckler rogue but everything that I’m seeing says the class needs to be multiclassed because I’m going to be doing honor mode. I don’t know whether to go Hexblade with it or Champion Fighter. Or if I should just go for a different class altogether haven’t done a multiclass before so to confusion
