Thoughts on ‘This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours’
For me, this a sub-par album and one I struggle to enjoy in its entirety, especially following the euphoria of ‘Everything Must Go’. The first half is strong, powerful and melodic, but I find the second half flat and uninspired. Even the addition of ‘Prologue to History’ on the revisionist version fails to light it up for me.
The production generally feels a bit antiseptic, just failing to really add the spark the songs need. That spark was clearly there (see the faster, rawer and far superior ‘Tsunami’ demo, which is brilliant) but somewhere it got lost.
It’s also way too long, at well over an hour, with not enough of interest to sustain itself towards the end.
‘TIMTTMY’ sits towards the bottom of the list of my favourite Manics albums. How do other people view it?
