Best pillowcases for standard vs. king-size pillows?

Pillowcases seem like such a basic thing, but the more I read about bedding, the more it sounds like size and fit actually matter a lot. I’ve seen people mention that using a king-size pillowcase on a standard pillow can cause bunching, wrinkles, or even affect neck support, while others say it’s more comfortable and easier to maintain.

This has me a bit confused because I’m currently using standard pillows, but most of the pillowcases I like (especially nicer materials like percale or bamboo) seem to be marketed more heavily in king sizes. I’ve also noticed that some standard pillowcases feel tight after washing, while king ones feel loose but sometimes look messy.

For those who’ve tested both setups:

  • Do standard pillowcases actually perform better on standard pillows in terms of comfort and staying in place?
  • Are there certain fabrics or brands that work equally well for both standard and king pillows?
  • Is it worth sizing up for durability and ease, or does that just create new problems?

Would love to hear what’s worked (or not worked) for others before buying another set.
