On the Topic of Body Hair, Hygiene, and Diapers
This was inspired by a question on another post about why hair is such a big deal in the dating scene. I'm not looking to judge anyone for their choices. You should do what you feel is best for you. Save or don't. Trim or don't. I'm not your dad, and it's your body. However, I do want to give a thought or two on helping people enjoy diapers safely, and how body hair could factor into things.
The short version? Regardless of if you shave or not, be careful about staying in a used diaper for too long, and be sure to shower or bathe frequently.
Now, on to the messy (heh) explanation!
Many of us (myself included) like the feeling of a warm, wet diaper, and don't change right away. Some of us like messy diapers, and many of us even fill our pampers with cummies. Nothing wrong with any of this. It's great fun. That said, staying in our used diapers for too long can prove risky, and that risk can be made a little worse if you're like me and don't shave.
It all comes down to surface area. Hair provides a lot of surface area in a surprisingly small volume, and can grow densely. The more surface area, the more points that yeast or bacteria have to anchor themselves to. A dense mat of pubic hair is more likely to trap moisture and feces which can provide nutrients to those same microbes. Combine this with a warm area filled with the things we fill our diapers with, and it's basically the perfect place for yeast and bacteria to grow.
Now, it doesn't really matter if you are shaving or not: there's enough surface area on your skin for bacteria and fungi to form strong colonies, and grow. Hair just gives them more space to do so, and can trap nutrients they need. The longer a person stays in a dirty diaper, the longer it has to grow fat and happy. What shaving does is reduce the area where things can grow or be trapped.
HOWEVER, regardless of if you shave or trim, or let it grow wild, soap and water can cleanse your diaper area without issue. What shaving does is allow you to clean with just wipes more effectively. Even so, that's not a substitute for a real bath or shower. Yes, shaving can be more hygenic if you're frequently using your diapers, but that doesn't make leaving your hair natural unhygienic. It may sound like sophistry, but it's the difference between saying you don't like or dislike something and you hate something.
The important thing, in my opinion, is not if you shave. It's that you're careful about cleaning, and how long you go before changing. Or don't. Your body, your life. I'm not your daddy.
