Vampire movies

Discussion

Today I watched Fright Night (1985) for the first time and I was genuinely amazed at the special effects.

Then I watched Abigail (2024) straight after. It did feel like it paid homage to a certain extent to Fright Night. For example, in Abigail, there is a scene where a piece of wood is stuck in someone's house just like in Fright Night with the bat.

My question is, do you enjoy watching films that begin or influence a genre and then watching a modern film after to compare? What films would you say are genre defining and why?
