How to tell if connection to or from the fan hub is poor?

I am currently facing an issue where my pc’s fans randomly stopped spinning at the speed that they should be spinning at. I think it could be an issue with the connection to the fan hub, without opening up my pc, how can I tell if the connection to or from the fan hub is flawed?
