Is there some way that I can work to converge my eyesight? (lazy eye)

25M here. As a child, I recall wearing a patch on one side and having an operation or two done to help with my lazy eye. I went for years without wearing glasses or contacts after treatment.

Perhaps I’m confusing it with more technical descriptors, but my parents always just referred to it as “lazy eye”. When looking through my right eye, the vision is noticeably more blurry and it takes more effort to read with. It seems to be slightly misaligned to this day, even after the medical treatments years ago.

Maybe I didn’t notice how bad my right eye was until recently, but it eventually got to the point where glasses felt necessary about a year ago. Since getting my prescription glasses, I’ve been reading quite a bit more (having rarely done it for leisure in the past). I have noticed that my right eye capability has improved, buy only singularly.

Is there something I can do to regain convergence of both eyes? It is very frustrating to switch between left/right perspectives while reading. I’ve attempted to actively use both eyes by engaging them to be pointed at the same location on the page, but it’s very difficult. If I just wanted to pick one eye to read through, I could manage without frustration for the most part. I would say this is even true for my non-dominant eye (now that I have glasses and my reading performance with it has improved). I would much prefer to use both eyes, though.

I realize this is kind of a stubborn attitude about the situation. This problem is likely just something I will have to accept and live with.
