Don’t want to be a statistic

Recently my spouse and I have been having some trouble. We were long distance for a short period and planning to close the gap. However we don’t know how long I will be at this duty station because command slates are so secretive. I’ve heard some rumors but they’re such a wide spread in time frame that we cannot plan appropriately. On top of that I didn’t know for sure I was going on this deployment until 3 months ago - again a very last minute manning decision. I am happy about it but the keeping me in the dark about my next positions has caused our marriage stress not knowing where my career will take me, and I fear I’ll be a divorced senior CPT like the rest of them.

Is there a way to professionally bring this impact up to my senior leaders, through appropriate chains of course. Open door, office call, and what is the right thing to say.

Before anyone says “get out”, I have consulted with my peers from other units and their units have provided much better clarity on timelines, even if it wasn’t confirmed.
