Am I Supposed to fight the big golem guy at the Divine tower?

Got teleported there earlier while exploring the Weeping Peninsula. Seems pretty difficult at my current stage in the game (Post Margit, level in mid high 20s). Is it worth fighting? Am I at the level where I should be doing it?

This is my first souls-like/souls game ever, so it’s hard for me to judge where my power level is at and for me to judge whether an enemy is one I should be fighting.
