S4 New Storylines & Returning Characters You Want to See – Old Characters & Storylines You’d Like Less of, and Why?
Following the discussion about the Mondriches, I’m curious: which characters and storylines you want to see more of—or less of—in S4, and why?
Note: I’m not including the leads from S1–S3 here—I love 💕 them all. As a fan of romance novels, where romantic leads from previous books usually play a smaller role, I’m focusing on future seasons. That said, feel free to get excited 🤗 about your favorite leads from previous seasons returning.🤗
New Characters & Storylines I’m Excited About: ✨
Upstairs/Downstairs elements – They’ve teased a Downton Abbey–style look at the supporting characters who work for the great houses, and I can’t wait to see more of this. Maybe we see more of Footman John and Brimsley?
Sophie – I love 💕 romance novels and am excited for all the couples and the S4 leads.
Lady Araminata, Rosamund, and Posy – Marketing makes me excited to see more of their stories.
Michaela – We only saw a glimpse in S3, but I want to see her in S4 with Francesca, and John. Hoping they bring in Cheryl Dunye to direct and a dark-skinned queer Black writer for her and Fran's season (S5 or S6).
Returning Characters I’m Looking Forward To:
Philip Crane – I would like a brief teaser or a voiceover of him writing a letter to Eloise..
Francesca & John – Set up for future seasons with Fran & Michaela. I liked S3 and I’m optimistic about future seasons.
**Old Characters & Storylines I’d Skip or See Less Of:**⚠️
Cressida – I don’t care for her redemption arc or suffering unless it directly supports the romantic leads. She was Penelope’s bully for multiple seasons and part of the S3/LW/Queen storyline, which worked as a subplot to pass the Bechdel diversity test for women characters - but does she need a story without LW now that Pen is living her best life?
