Betriebskosten

Hi everyone,

I am an international student living in a private student dormitory in Germany. I lived there for the full year of 2024 in a single apartment ("Einzelapartment").

I just received my utility bill (Betriebskostenabrechnung) and they calculated my share of the costs to be 2,715.64 €.

Looking at the breakdown (see image), the massive outlier seems to be "Heiz- und Wasserkosten" (Heating and Water) which alone accounts for 2,083.67 €.

For context:

• I live in a standard student room with 19,9 m*m.
• I heat normally/conservatively.
• There is a restaurant ("Gastro") in the building, and I am worried I might be paying for their consumption, though some lines say "ohne Gastro".
