Question about book-canon Louis!

I read Interview with a Vampire a long time ago. And recently I wondered—Louis seemed so humane, refusing to kill people at first and considering himself cursed. But he owned a plantation with slaves. Did he even write anything about it? Did he feel any remorse for literally being a slave owner?
