is it worth it and how to install

i want to install mint in my new pc but a friend of mine said that windows is better and said that whatever linux has as an advantage isnt all that or worth it to risk downloading linux as wimdows is much easier to use so ive being in a pinch right now so my questions are:

1. is linux (mint in this situation) that much advantageous than windows for me to download and would its drawbacks (mostly gaming for me) be that much dragging?

2. if the first is yes then, how can i download it? i already have cinamon mint downloaded but i used balega etcher and ventoy but balega couldnt read my mint file and ventoy is too much work and rufus didnt even want to install because of something i dont know what it is
