Fibroid actually ovarian tumor?

Has anyone thought they had a pedunculated fibroid that turned out to be an ovarian tumor?

After my CT scan, my doctor recommended me to an oncologist because my fibroid was 14x9cm, and she just wanted to double check there was nothing indicating cancer. The oncologist said he couldn't find a left ovary and had me go in for an MRI. I have the MRI results but don't meet back with my doctor for a week. The mass is so big that it's hard to see what's going on, so the MRI report basically says it's likely either a pedunculated fibroid that's smushed my ovary so much it might not be very visible, or it could be a tumor associated with the ovary.

I feel like I've put all of this energy into learning about fibroids, and it might be something completely different. From my minimal understanding of what I've read, it still doesn't seem to indicate anything cancerous. From what I've read online about my report, it seems like the mass probably will need to be removed and that I probably won't find out what it is until they open me up in surgery...

I'm curious if anyone else has had this happen and if you have information/ advice? I feel like I'm starting over with learning, and I don't know anything about ovarian tumors...
