Making Tax Digital MTD advice - turnover in my bank is after fees
Hello, I am a sole trader and I will need to sign up to MTD in April as my turnover is over 50k, so I’ve been using QuickBooks for the 25/26 tax year to get used to it but I just realised something and need advice…
Will the quarterly figures be submitted straight from the software (in my case, QuickBooks) records via my bank account to HMRC? If so, my turnover will show as after fees (I’m a reseller; money from my card providers, PayPal, Klarna etc settle into my bank after fees have been taken off)
Whereas obviously in my self assessment now, I submit my turnover as it shows in my shopify (before fees) which is how it should be.
E.g. Shopify turnover (before fees) would be around 85k but would show in my bank as around 78k as that is with the fees taken off after settlement
So I guess what I’m asking is, are the figures editable via the MTD software? Because if they aren’t, the figures from the software will be less than the one I’ll need to submit in the end of year self assessment, which technically is the correct figure as it’s before fees.
Not sure if anyone even knows the answer to this tbh! But any advice is appreciated, thank you.
