Holiday homes, no gated pools

Question

Hi,

I'm traveling to Tenerife with my family of 6 adults and 4 small kids (5, 3, 1, 0). While looking for holiday homes it stands out to me that the majority of homes don't have a gated or separated pool. The pool is often just there next to the main patio, free for kids to wander into.

I'm so cusious why this is. Its a major safety risk and I cant imagine I'm the only one traveling with young kids. It seems to me a very logical feature to have in your holiday home.

If you've traveled to GC or Tenerife with young kids and stayed at a house with an "open" pool, how did you deal with this? Do your kids wear inflatables all the time?
