[US] Possible Apple Support Scam
Hello. Recently I had my Beats headphones break down. I contacted a support number on Amazon's page, which was correct, but the caller ID showed up as "Anytime Fitness". I was confused, understandably, but the number was correct. I looked it up on the site to double check.
When I called in, the person on the other end said they were apple support and were able to handle my ticket, and I relaxed when I received an email from the official apple domain saying that they were going to send me a box. The thing is, afterwards they sent me another email, again from the correct domain, which didn't have my name.
I guess my question here is whether this is a scam or just some sort of series of coincidences. On one hand, all of the sources check out, but on the other I don't know why apple support would show up under a different caller ID and why they would get my name wrong when it's on my apple account.
btw, the emails I received were from email.apple.com, which I'm pretty sure is the official domain.
So, is this a known thing? It's so bizarrely specific that I can't find anything online about it.
