Dali Grand Diva vs Dali Opticon 6 Mk1 vs Infinity Kappa
Hello fellow budget audiophiles! I am about to upgrade my front towers for the first time since I entered the hobby. I have already upgraded my AVR to something that can power them or has pre-outs (Denon x3500h).
I am choosing between Dali Grand Diva (2.5way, late 90s - early 2000s), Dali Opticon Mk1 (2.5way, relatively fresh) and Infinity Kappa 6.2i (3way). All similarly priced. All drivers are in good order. Dali Grand Diva has some veneer damage (as seen on the photo)
I will use them for music and home cinema 50x50.
I tried searching for information online, through AI but it is not the same as asking someone who owned or listened to each of these.
I have auditioned Dali Grand Diva and Infinity Kappa 6.2i in local (used) audio shops. They are different but I like both for different kinds of music. I am leaning toward Dali as they will do better all around with more genres of music and movies (Infinity has a tiny edge in instrumental music).
GV at 26kg seemed more planted and had more authority in the lower extension. Mids were also more convincing with GV. Higher extension - I think Infinity had more interesting solution and sound.
Is it worth it to audition Dali Opticon 6 Mk1? Can it be a better choice than Grand Diva?
Grand Diva was supposed to be in the flagship lineup, but it was 25 years ago. At the same time, Opticon seems to have the ribbon but it crosses at 14khz, which I am not sure I will even hear.
I appreciate any feedback! I will likely pick one tomorrow but I choose my mind every half an hour.
p.s. I have read that I have to match LR with the center speaker, but it is not a priority atm - I can match center to the fronts later if it doesn't work with my current one.
