AITA if I dont want to be a church fanatic?

I am a bad person?

I believe in God, but I’m not interested in things like First Communion or Confirmation. I already did my First Communion when I was 9 because my family wanted it, not me. Now I’m 15 and my mom told me I’m going to do my Confirmation on March 19.

The problem is that March 19 is my boyfriend’s birthday. I’ve been telling her for six months that his birthday is that day. I’ve already had arguments with my mom because I’ve always said that the Church has a lot of shady issues, and honestly we’re not even that religious. We’re not church fanatics (well, they aren’t), but every time something happens, they suddenly want to go to church. Out of nowhere they get the idea.

They postponed my sister’s Communion for 2–3 years, and now they suddenly decided it has to be this year on March 19, “to take advantage of the date.” I feel like they never respect my opinions. When I talk about respecting other people’s beliefs or explain my own views, they treat me badly and insult me.

They forced me to start studying for something I don’t think is necessary, and on top of that they scheduled it on a date that’s really important to me. I want to celebrate my boyfriend, who has never had good birthdays because no one ever celebrates him. He’s also turning 18.

I don’t know what to do to get my parents to leave me alone. Every time I try to say I don’t want to do something, they force me. If I resist, it turns physical, plus hurtful comments. I’m exhausted. This isn’t the only thing they’ve done against my will.
