What to do with the drip [Bambino]
First I just want to thank this community for being so helpful and inspiring. Because of you all I bought my first real grinder (DF64 Gen 2) and for Christmas I got the Bambino (I opted for the base model instead of the plus and put that extra money into my grinder). And I’ve been loving it!
Of course the base model doesn’t have the solenoid valve which means that when I stop the shot there is still a few seconds and a few grams of drip that fall into the cup.
My question is: should these drips be factored into the final output weight? Meaning I should plan to stop the shot approximately 3-5 g from the final yield?
Or should I snatch the cup and scale from under the portafilter asap when I hit my target and stop the shot? This means letting the drip hit the tray, not my cup.
Is there anything about that drip that is not quality espresso? Or does it not really matter? And it’s all about the taste?
I’m using a bottomless portafilter and puck screen. Thanks!
