[Landlord - VA] - Mandated Reporter / Eviction Process

Long story short I recently evicted a tenant, several red flags were raised.

Asked for her forwarding address for her and her two children and she said there is none because she’s “homeless” and upon taking possession of the property found that there was no electric or utilities for a while - to the point where the toilet is filled with human waste because it couldn’t be flushed.

The issue is I am currently going through the legal process to recoup the rent money through the courts and don’t want to say anything that will make me look like a vindictive landlord, but at the same time, children need lights, electricity, and a place to stay. I’m genuinely concerned and surprised the officers at the lockout didn’t report.

I want to advocate for her kids that don’t deserve all of this but know how the legal system works if I do it anytime before our court dates going forward she can play it as “I’m being harassed”
