Hi everyone! My partner and I are moving into a new place in about a month and could really use some help thinking through the layout of our new master bedroom. We move in two weeks and have time & moderate resources to rethink furniture layout.

The room is smaller than our current setup, and we want to keep a queen-sized bed. In an ideal scenario, there would be room on all sides to access the bed, room for 2 small bedside tables (or wall shelf) and then 2 scones for each side. Other than these, we don’t need any other furniture in the room.

We currently have a walnut queen bed frame, two walnut bedside tables (23in high, 19in wide,16in length) and two table lamps. We are happy sell our things and hunt secondhand or buy new. We just really want to be able to fit in the space, with our priority being bed access on 2 sides.

The biggest challenge is that the bedroom door swings inward, and most placements for the bed either block the door or make the room feel really tight and awkward. The closet doors open out into the room. We’ve tried mockups with the bed to different walls, but every option seems to come with a tradeoff - mostly being the door clearance. We’re feeling a bit stuck and would love some fresh eyes on this.

The walls are white in the space. There is a large closet to the left of the door, and a window in the far right wall. I have drawn over the current tenants furniture to maintain their privacy.

We’re open to:
	•	Layout suggestions
	•	Creative bed placement ideas
	•	Furniture scale recommendations
	•	Any clever tricks you’ve used in small bedrooms

The room is approximately 90in wide by 140in long. Thank you so much in advance. We really appreciate any ideas!
