Advantage Rule and TFSA/RRSP question
Hi all,
I had a bit of a complicated question.
I got lucky with my TFSA and have a good amount in my TFSA. This is all off of 1 lucky stock - lets call that stock A.
However I have around 20-30k of contribution room in my RRSP.
I was thinking of selling Stock A from my TFSA. Withdrawing that cash. Then contributing that to a self-directed RRSP and buying Stock A again. Assuming the price does not move too much, I will still have the same holding of Stock A but I will be able to fulfill my RRSP room and also get a tax refund from my RRSP.
Question is: is this allowed under the CRA Tax Advantage rule / Swap Transaction rule? Aka Louie v Canada Swap Transaction rule?
Or should I just put my savings into RRSP when I have them as the (much) safer option?
